Tyros 3 implemented for the first time a Synchro Start Function for Multi Pads. While holding the Multi Pad [SYNC START] button, press the desired Multi Pad button(s) from [1]–[4]. This puts the Multi Pad playback in “standby” and the corresponding buttons flash in red. The Multi Pad starts playing back when you press any note (when [ACMP] is off) or when you play a chord with your left hand (when [ACMP] is on).
Start with the registration
To start a Multi Pad with the registration:
- While holding the Multi Pad [SYNC START] button, press the desired Multi Pad button(s) from [1]–[4] (corresponding buttons flash in red).
- Press the [MEMORY] button in the registration memory section to call up the registration memory window. Make sure that the MULTI PAD group is checked, then press the desired registration memory [1]–[10] button to memorize the panel setup.
Note that if you recall the registration while playing, the Multi Pad will not start playback immediately, because all that happens is that SYNC START will be activated. You need to play a chord (or note if [ACMP] is turned off) to start the playback. Be aware that when a style is running Multi Pad will start at the top of the next measure.
Stop with the registration
Unfortunately there is no SYNC STOP button to stop a repeating Multi Pad. To achieve this you need a Multi Pad that contains a short, silent (volume=0) note. This may be easily created using the on-board Multi Pad Creator. For your convenience you may use the download link below. The “StopPad” contains the stop sequence for all four Multi Pads. Usage:
- Select the “StopPad”Multi Pad
- While holding the [SYNC START] button press the Multi Pad button(s) from [1]–[4] that you wish to stop
- Store in the registration.
If you recall the registration while playing, the Multi Pad will not stop playback immediately. You need to play a chord (or note if [ACMP] is turned off) to stop the playback. When a style is running the Multi Pad will stop at the top of the next measure.
Stop a Multi Pad and start another at the same time
To stop a Multi Pad and start a second at the same time, just create a Multi-Pad bank that contains the Stop Pad located at the Multi Pad to be stopped (to be copied from StopPad) as well as Multi Pad to b started. Active [SYNC START] for both Multi Pad buttons and store this in the registration.
